Black Tiger Hissing Roach (Gromphadorhina grandieri)
Black Tiger Hissing Roaches are a relative of the Regular Hissing Roaches of Madagascar. These beauties max out at about 3” in length and are an amazing pet (or feeder).
**Listing is for juveniles about 1” in size, we will send males/females in 2:3 or 3:7 male:female ratio. This is best suited for proper breeding when they reach maturity**
Please add a heat pack to your order if temps will fall below 50. See Live Arrival Guarantee for more info.
Despite their size, even as adults, they are gentle giants and can be gently handled. They do hiss by pushing air out, but don’t be alarmed. It’s just a defense mechanism.
Hissing Roaches are not considered a pest species and cannot infest your home if one were to escape. However, they can climb, so we recommend a secure enclosure, our Dubia Breeding kits or 37qt bins do the job exceptionally well. We raise all our hissers in 37qt bins. We use a bioactive set up with isopods and springtails, as well as cork bark, sphagnum moss, and leaf litter, which they enjoy breaking down! You can find some of these items in our Supply section and in the Hissers section as well
We recommend feeding them organic produce like carrots, zucchini, cucumber, in addition to roach chow and a source of protein (fish flakes are great). Crushed oyster shell sprinkled in the enclosure also provides valuable nutrients.
